Fraternity Student Suicide Cleanup Fraternity Student Suicide Cleanup - Pictures included are not suitable for many people. Blood cleanup need not require close contact with source material. Just the same, gloves must be worn. Other mandatory equipment include eye, nose, and mouth protection. My intent for discussing hands-free cleaning proves a point, not that we can clean without our hands. I'm making a point that we need not expose ourselves needlessly to bloodborne pathogens. By keeping our distance we reduce our risks. For this suicide cleanup I used the sanitary sewer for biowaste disposal. Both the toilet and bathtub carried away all blood and other potentially infectious materials (OPIM). Tools and supplies used for this cleanup included the following:
This is by far my most important tool. Extension pools give me a liberty to work at a distance. I can choose to work at 3 feet, 5 feet, or even 10 feet if I want. I have. There's no point placing myself at risk close to source material. Blood and OPIM from homicides, suicides, or unattended deaths with decomposition stinks, it's filthy, and sometimes really dangerous. Suicide cleanup my way makes really dangerous cleaning meaningless. One challenge for extension poll cleaning remains affixing a sharp cutting tool. With a carpet cutting blade firmly fixed to its working end, an extension pool becomes awesome. Creating this add-on remains a challenge for my crime scene cleaning efforts. Grassroots Demonstrations Let me add that an extension poll becomes handy when doing street demonstrations against local government scum bag cronies. An extension poll allows hoisting an informative banner up to 12 feet off the ground without as much as a blush. In Orange County the Santa Ana winds do pickup, so use of this devise for democratic demonstration, truth, and liberty does have its limitations to calm breezes. 2. Extension Poll Nylon Brush\ A wide variety of brushes affix to the extension poll. Nylon brushes remain stiff and easily disinfected. Their prices remain below $10. Narrow brushes remain my most prized brushes. They fit easily behind toilets and other hard to reach places. 3. Sledge Hammer Crime scene cleanup without a decent sludge hammer's like going to the movies wearing welding goggles. It's a needless effort. A good bang and drawers, shelves, and heavy furniture come apart. On this fraternity suicide cleanup a sledge hammer made short work of the toilet. Normally, once a bloody toilet cleanup ends, I remove it carefully. In this case a psychological statement needed to broadcast throughout the fraternity house. Residents wanted the toilet out. The landlord wanted the toilet in. I thought, "What would Jesus do." So I took it out. See 4. Flat, Metal Shovel A flat metal shovel like those at Loves' or Home Depot work great. They hold a lot of debris. They hold a lot of source material. Capturing matter with a flat shovel and broom takes a very short time. It also keeps my face and limbs far from damaging matter. Best about using a flat metal shovel, they're easy to clean and disinfect. And, if it does snow, I'm ready. 5. Paper Towels Paper towels come with a high price tag over time. It would be easier to use towels and throw them into a biohazard bag. That's expensive too. Worse, blood soiled towels must go out the door and on the rood. Paper towels bleach out in a bleach and water solution. They also go down toilets. Sending bloody paper towels down the toilet carries great plumbing risks for new crime scene cleaners. It's best to use only a few at a time. It's best to soak a few at a time in a bleach holding toilet bowl. Knowing flush time marks the professional. Black, 3 Mil Bags I recommend 3 mil black bags. They drip, but their seams hold under heavy weight. Doubled or tripled bags work best. Red bags signify biohazard. These bags have two problems. One, they're weak. Two, many have lead in their material, making them hazardous material. Bleach I don't know of anything that works as well as bleach for a general, mid-range disinfectant. On fabric, wood, and concrete, bleach helps to render blood worthless as a pathogen. Bleach also causes color loss. Open a bleach bottle and consider it weaker by the hour. Actually, it may take a few days before it's degraded. Me, I use the whole bottle one way or another. For a few bucks why work with a weakened disinfectant? Simple Green Water Destroying the toilet fit a higher psychology than typical biohazard cleanup demolition. Residents felt betrayed by their suicidal fraternity brother. They felt the toilet need to go. Saving the toilet save some part of their wounded memories. Taking this toilet out helped sooth psychological tension remaining from their lost brother's rude departure. Anytime that I can destroy and remove items associated with a suicide. I do so. (return)
